With all the focus on home offices these days, it’s easy to forget how important it is to have a comfortable, operational traditional workspace. We got a call from a small business owner who had just that on his mind as people started returning to work. Now, his new ductless mini split solved a longtime problem in his office.
The space never got adequate heating and cooling. As a result, the room was always too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter. It was often a distraction for him. But, it was especially noticeable when clients came in.
It was obvious that the room wasn’t as comfortable as it should be. But, with so many other expenses to worry about, this was always at the bottom of the list.
Now, as he’s returning to his office more often, he decided it was time to finally do something about it. Although he was worried the solution would end up being very expensive. Or, at the very least, it would mean having people ripping apart the office for a few days.
So, he was pleasantly surprised, to say the least, to learn that a ductless mini split would transform the comfort — and would only take a day to install!

How Mini Splits Heat And Cool Better
The big draw for our business owner was just how well we could heat and cool his office with a mini split. There are other benefits to these systems, and we’ll get into those later. But, the big takeaway here is that the room would stay at a consistent temperature all the time. That means no temperature swings and not hot or cold spots.
How do they do it?
Inverter Technology
The heat pump, or outside unit, uses Inverter technology to run at variable speeds. This way, it provides just enough heating and cooling for the room.
Compare that to the one-size-fits-all approach of conventional, single-stage furnaces or central air. Those only turn on at full blast when the temperature drifts. Instead, the mini split heat pump often runs in a low power mode to keep the temperature consistent all the time.
Better Air Circulation
Next, the indoor air handler circulates the air more accurately and efficiently than ductwork and vents. That’s because it doesn’t just push the air into the room and leave it at that.
Instead, the recessed ceiling cassette in this office uses special monitors to find any hot or cold spots in the room. That could be near a door or window, for instance. Or just the area furthest from the air handler.
The unit uses small, specialized fans to push the treated air into that spot. This way, it doesn’t overtreat the area right near a vent, leaving other places too hot or cold.
Ductless Heating And Cooling For Commercial Spaces
While comfort was the top priority, the mini split heat pump and recessed ceiling cassette also held other benefits, particularly for a commercial space. These include:
-
Energy Efficiency
-
Long Lifespan
-
Quiet Operation
Energy Efficiency
A mini split uses less energy than conventional furnace and central air setups. And, way, way less than space heaters or window air conditioners. With a ductless heat pump system, the monthly expenses for this office space just went down.
Long Lifespan
With proper maintenance, the ductless system in this office can last nearly twenty years. That’s way more than any conventional system.
Quiet Operation
Here’s a fantastic bonus for anyone who needs a quiet place for phone calls, meetings, or just concentrating on work: literally whisper-quiet heating and cooling.
Even when the system is working at full speed — and that’s rare — the air handler makes about as much noise as a hushed conversation in a library. And, most of the time, it’s even much softer than that.
